The Atelier Take

A strong earner for a business whose biggest bills are advertising, software or meals, because the 4x follows the spending without any tracking.

Who it suits

Businesses spending a few thousand dollars a month on online advertising, software or dining that want transferable points rather than lounge access. The automatic top-two picking suits spending that shifts from month to month.

Who should skip it

Businesses putting well over $150,000 a year through the 4x categories, where 1x takes over, and anyone who wants lounges or stronger travel insurance: the Business Platinum covers those.

Every credit, and the catch

Four credits worth $845 a year at face value, two of them paid in monthly slices that disappear if unused.

Flexible Business Credit

Up to $240 a year

How often: $20 a monthEnrollment: Yes

Only Grubhub (including Seamless), U.S. office supply stores and shipments paid on UPS.com; The UPS Store is excluded. An unused month is lost.

ChatGPT Business credit

Walmart+ credit

Up to $155 a year

How often: Up to $12.95 plus tax each monthEnrollment: No, pay the monthly membership with the card

The monthly Walmart+ plan only, not the annual plan or Walmart Business+.

The Hotel Collection

$100 per stay

How often: Each eligible bookingEnrollment: No

Two-night minimum, booked through Amex Travel; the $100 is a property credit for eligible charges, not money off the room.

What it earns

Rewards: American Express Membership Rewards points, which transfer to 16 airline and 4 hotel programs, most at 1:1, including Delta SkyMiles, Air Canada Aeroplan, British Airways and Marriott Bonvoy.

4x

The 2 categories where the business spends most each billing cycle, out of 6: U.S. advertising (online, TV and radio), U.S. electronics retailers and software and cloud providers, U.S. restaurants, U.S. gas stations, transit, and U.S. wireless phone service

TPG values Membership Rewards points at 2.0¢ each, when transferred to partners, so 4x returns about 8¢ per dollar. From February 17, 2027, 4x advertising will count only with Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, GoDaddy and Yelp, and 4x wireless only with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Frontier, Comcast, Charter, Spectrum Mobile, UScellular, Optimum, Ultra Mobile and Mint Mobile. Transfers to U.S. airlines carry a fee of $0.0006 a point, capped at $99.

Other benefits

The Hotel Collection

On stays of two nights or more booked through Amex Travel: a $100 credit toward eligible charges, plus noon check-in, 4pm late checkout and a room upgrade when available.

No preset spending limit

A charge card: the spending limit adapts to purchase and payment history, and eligible charges can be carried with interest through Pay Over Time.

Card design

A choice of Gold, Rose Gold or White Gold when applying.

Amex Offers and ticket access

Targeted merchant offers, presale and reserved tickets.

Will the $375 fee pay off?

Enter what would go on this card. The result values points at TPG’s valuation, adds the credits that would actually be used and, in year one, the welcome offer, then sets the total against a no-fee card that pays 2% back on everything.
