How We Verify
Last updated: October 2026
Points programs change without much warning. Award prices move, transfer partners come and go, and bonuses expire. Much of what circulates online is a few months out of date. This page explains how we make sure what we publish is right on the day we publish it.
1. We go to the source
We check numbers against the official source, in this order of preference:
- The program's or issuer's own website, terms and conditions, or published award chart.
- A live search on the airline's or hotel's own booking site.
- Official announcements from the program or issuer.
Other blogs, newsletters and social posts are where we hear about news. Until a number is confirmed at the program's or issuer's own source, we label it as reported and don't state it as fact.
2. We check every figure, not just the headline
That includes earn rates, annual fees, welcome offers, transfer ratios, award prices, taxes and surcharges, and expiry dates. Each one is checked individually before publication.
3. We say when timing matters
Prices and availability change. Where a figure depends on timing (a bonus end date, an award search, a limited-time offer), we give the date with it.
4. We show our working on value
When we say a redemption is good value, we show the cash price, the points cost and the taxes, so you can see the cents-per-point figure for yourself rather than taking our word for it.
5. A person signs off
Every piece is read and approved by a person before it goes live, whether it was drafted by hand or with help from AI tools.
6. We revisit and correct
Our evergreen guides are reviewed periodically. If a reader or a program change shows we are out of date, we update the piece and add a dated note. See the corrections section of our Editorial Policy.
