World of Hyatt, explained
Why Hyatt points are worth the most of the big three U.S. hotel programs, how the new five-level award chart works, what status is worth, the credit cards, and the hotels most worth the points.
Among people who collect points, World of Hyatt is often the hotel program they would keep if they could keep only one. The reasons are simple: Hyatt still publishes an award chart, its points are typically worth more than Hilton’s or Marriott’s, and its top status, Globalist, is among the most generous of the big chains. The catch is a smaller footprint than Marriott or Hilton, and a 2026 that made several things more expensive.

What changed in 2026
The award chart
Every Hyatt hotel sits in one of eight categories, and since May 2026 each night at that hotel is priced at one of five levels. Each date at each hotel is priced at one of the five levels. Prices below are points per night for a standard room, from Hyatt’s own chart.
| Category | Lowest | Low | Moderate | Upper | Top |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3,000 | 4,500 | 6,000 | 7,500 | 9,000 |
| 2 | 6,000 | 7,500 | 10,000 | 12,000 | 15,000 |
| 3 | 8,000 | 12,000 | 15,000 | 17,500 | 20,000 |
| 4 | 12,000 | 15,000 | 20,000 | 22,500 | 25,000 |
| 5 | 15,000 | 20,000 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 |
| 6 | 20,000 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 | 40,000 |
| 7 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 | 45,000 | 55,000 |
| 8 | 35,000 | 45,000 | 55,000 | 65,000 | 75,000 |
Club rooms and suites have their own rows on the same chart: a standard suite at a Category 8 hotel runs 56,000–96,000 points a night, for example. Hyatt says only a limited number of nights moved to Upper and Top in 2026, with broader use in later years.
All-inclusive resorts
Hyatt’s all-inclusive resorts (including Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara and the Inclusive Collection) use a separate chart, with categories A to F. Prices cover one or two guests, with food and drink included.
| Category | Lowest | Low | Moderate | Upper | Top |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | 12,000 | 15,000 | 20,000 | 22,500 | 25,000 |
| B | 15,000 | 20,000 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 |
| C | 20,000 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 | 40,000 |
| D | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 | 45,000 | 55,000 |
| E | 35,000 | 45,000 | 55,000 | 65,000 | 75,000 |
| F | 45,000 | 55,000 | 65,000 | 75,000 | 85,000 |
Mr & Mrs Smith properties can also be booked with Hyatt points; their prices vary by date and room type rather than following the chart, so compare them with the cash rate before booking. Miraval wellness resorts price separately: a standard room for one runs 40,000–75,000 points a night, with a $175 resort credit per person included.
Resort fees
Hyatt waives resort fees on free night awards for every member, according to its tiers page. At beach and city hotels that charge $40 or more a night, that is real money.

Lifetime Globalist: 1,000,000 base points over a membership
Two shortcuts exist. The World of Hyatt credit card gives Discoverist status and 5 qualifying nights a year, plus 2 more for every $5,000 spent. The Chase Sapphire Reserve gives Explorist status after $75,000 of purchases in a calendar year, according to Chase.
Milestone Rewards
Every ten nights brings a reward, chosen from a short list. The ones that matter most:
| Nights in a year | Reward |
|---|---|
| 20 | Two Club access awards, a 2,000-point stay award, or similar |
| 30 | A Category 1–4 free night, plus a choice from the 20-night list |
| 40 | A Guest of Honor award, plus 5,000 points or a suite upgrade |
| 60 | Two Guest of Honor awards, a Category 1–7 free night, two suite upgrades and My Hyatt Concierge |
| 100 | A Category 1–7 free night, plus 10,000 points or a suite upgrade |
| 150 | A free night at any hotel, all-inclusive or Miraval |
A Guest of Honor award extends Globalist benefits to someone else (or to a stay of one’s own) for up to seven nights, on award or paid stays.
Free night certificates
World of Hyatt Credit Card
Card anniversary night
Category 1–4every year after the account anniversary
Valid for 12 months; not usable at Miraval, Hyatt Ziva or Hyatt Zilara, according to Chase. A second one comes after $15,000 of purchases in a calendar year.
Worth up to 25,000 points
30 nights a year
Milestone night
Category 1–4standard room
The same certificate, earned by staying rather than spending.
Worth up to 25,000 points
60 and 100 nights a year
Milestone night
Category 1–7standard room
Covers any hotel up to Category 7; Category 8 is excluded.
Worth up to 55,000 points
Under the new chart, these certificates are worth more on expensive dates: a Category 1–4 certificate covers a Category 4 hotel even on a Top-priced night, worth 25,000 points. It is one of the strongest reasons to keep the $95 card.
How to earn Hyatt points
Transfer from Chase or Bilt
Chase Sapphire Reserve at 1:1; Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred at 4:3 (for all cardmembers since October 1, 2026). Bilt at 1:1, moving to 4:3 on January 1, 2027, according to TPG. American Express, Capital One and Citi do not transfer to Hyatt.
Stay
5 base points per dollar at most Hyatt hotels, plus 10–30% for elite members.
Use the card
4x at Hyatt (on top of the 5 base points), 2x on restaurants, airfare bought direct, local transit and gyms, 1x elsewhere.
Hyatt said in February 2026 that members would be able to share points online later in 2026. Points expire after 24 months without activity; they do not expire while a World of Hyatt card is open, according to Chase.

Where it shines
- The highest-value points of the big three hotel programs, at about 1.65¢ each by TPG’s valuation
- A published chart, with no dynamic pricing
- Globalist breakfast, suite upgrades and parking on awards
- Free night certificates that cover peak dates
Where it falls short
- A smaller footprint than Marriott or Hilton, especially in secondary cities
- Category 8 Top nights now cost up to 75,000 points
- Fewer ways in: only Chase and Bilt transfer, and both have moved or are moving to 4:3
- Category 8 hotels are excluded from every certificate except the 150-night award
The Atelier Take
