The Atelier Take
One of the easiest hotel cards to justify, on the free night alone.
Who it suits
Anyone who stays at Hyatt even once or twice a year, and anyone working toward Hyatt status.
Who should skip it
People whose travel rarely takes them near a Hyatt: the network is smaller than Marriott’s or Hilton’s.
Free nights, and the catch
Anniversary free night
One night at a Category 1–4 hotel
Only Category 1 to 4 hotels, which excludes Hyatt’s most expensive properties.
Second free night
One more Category 1–4 night
Only after $15,000 of purchases in the calendar year.
What it earns
Rewards: World of Hyatt points, which don’t expire while the card is open.

TPG values Hyatt points at 1.65¢ each, higher than any other hotel currency, so 2x returns about 3.3¢ per dollar. Chase Ultimate Rewards points also transfer to Hyatt: 1:1 from the Sapphire Reserve, and 4:3 from the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred (1,000 points become 750 Hyatt points).
Status
Discoverist status
For as long as the card is open.
5 tier-qualifying night credits
Each year, toward higher Hyatt status.
More night credits
2 tier-qualifying night credits for every $5,000 spent.
Will the $95 fee pay off?
Enter what would go on this card. The result values points at TPG’s valuation, adds the credits that would actually be used and, in year one, the welcome offer, then sets the total against a no-fee card that pays 2% back on everything.
