The Atelier Take

Platinum Elite status and the annual free night carry the $200 fee for anyone who stays at IHG hotels.

Who it suits

Business travelers who stay at IHG hotels and will use the anniversary free night and fourth-night-free award stays. The 5x on social media and search advertising suits businesses that buy ads.

Who should skip it

Anyone who rarely stays at IHG hotels: points are worth about 0.6¢ each, so the 3x base rate returns about 1.8¢.

Every credit, and the catch

Chase puts the first-year value above $750, but much of it depends on IHG stays, single brands or offers that end in 2027.

Insurance and protections

Chase lists only these two on the card’s page; the Guide to Benefits has the full terms. Pay for the trip or purchase with the card to be covered.

Trip cancellation and interruption

Up to $1,500 per traveler and $6,000 per trip for prepaid, non-refundable fares.

Purchase protection

Damage or theft within 120 days of purchase, up to $10,000 per item.
