Thompson Central Park: 30,000 Hyatt points against $838 a night
A Central Park hotel selling for $838 a night costs 30,000 World of Hyatt points on the same dates: roughly 2.8 cents a point, before taxes.
For a stay on October 3–4, 2026, Thompson Central Park New York was selling for $838 a night in cash, before taxes. The same room on the same dates cost 30,000 World of Hyatt points. That is roughly 2.8 cents a point, well above what Hyatt points typically fetch.
Same room, same dates, before taxes.
Why it works
Hyatt prices free nights from a published chart, not from the cash rate. Every hotel sits in a category, and each category has a fixed range of prices. Standard rooms run from 3,000 to 75,000 points a night, so when a city’s cash rates soar, the points price stays inside that range. That is why expensive cities are where Hyatt points do their best work.
Quick tip
If someone you know holds Hyatt’s top status, Globalist, ask about Guest of Honor. It can extend top-tier perks to your stay, such as a room upgrade, 4pm check-out, and daily breakfast or club lounge access.
How to book it
- Chase Sapphire Reserve points still move to Hyatt 1:1. (Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred moved to 4:3 on October 1.)
- Bilt points move 1:1 until December 31. From January 1, 2027, the ratio is set to become 4:3.
- Find the room on hyatt.com first. Transfers can’t be undone.
The Atelier Take
Hyatt is one of the best homes for Sapphire Reserve points. Holding Bilt? Use them before January.
