The Atelier Take

Worth it where a United Club membership would be bought anyway; the partner credits alone do not carry the fee.

Who it suits

Frequent United flyers who would otherwise pay for United Club access. The 1.5x base rate and 1 PQP per $15 also suit businesses that put large, varied spending on one card.

Who should skip it

Anyone who passes through a United hub only a few times a year: the $150 United Business covers the first bag and adds two Club passes.

Every credit, and the catch

Chase puts the partner credits above $925 a year, but each is tied to one brand or booking channel.

What it earns

Rewards: United MileagePlus miles, which don’t expire and book flights on United and its partner airlines.

8x

Eligible United flights

6x as a MileagePlus member plus 2x from the card; less on Basic Economy

5x

Hotels prepaid through Renowned Hotels and Resorts

Booked through Chase Travel; bookings through FROSCH don’t qualify

2x

Other United purchases

Seat upgrades, Economy Plus, inflight purchases and bag fees

1.5x

Everything else

TPG values United miles at 1.2¢ each, so the 1.5x base rate returns about 1.8¢ per dollar on all other spending. United prices most awards dynamically, so value varies by route and date. Holding a personal United card as well adds 5,000 miles each anniversary.
